September Meeting Summary

Longvue Acres Garden Club Meeting                                                       September 25, 2018
Claudia Hickly, LAGC President, welcomed a smaller attendance on our first autumn meeting this year. Claudia noted a club photo would not be taken tonight because of the rainy weather. We would use the one from the plant sale. She thanked Janine Zink for hosting our annual picnic, Jenna Noker for arranging the Moraine State Park field trip, and Rose Mary Highman for recording it all on our blog.

Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s Report – Denny Brown expects end of year $3700 upon estimating dues, fees, and sales tax.
Membership – Linda Brown & Ellen Dvorsky are collecting dues $15 per member. Please pay at next meeting omail to Linda. Two get well cards were signedone for Mary Ann Kurtz and another for Dorothy Maruscak.
Community Service – Peggy Elizeus said Passavant Chapel Garden is winding down. Helen Dean and Peggy will be doing fall clean up soon.
Program – Jenna was unable to attend the meeting so Claudia presented the program ideas that Jenna is working on for 2019. Members like the topics. Claudia also talked to the club about proposing to not plan all the programs for the entire year by December.  The various reasons were presented and members voted unanimously in agreement. We will not slate a full year of programs in advance but instead will make sure programs are in place for the next three to four months. This makes it easier for Handbook editor and Program Chair. The unscheduled programs would still have a page in the Handbook and the page would include the date, a photograph, and Hostess Duty.

Old Business:
Holiday Luncheon November 17, 11:30 a.m. – Colleen Fingal reported the luncheon will be at Pines Tavern with a $10.00 Ornament Exchange coordinated by Janine. Checks for $26 can be mailed to Colleen. This includes gratuity, entrée and a side, salad, beverage, and dessert. Members approved taking the $75 room fee from our treasury. Colleen will send an email with all the details. Janine will talk about the ornament exchange at the next meeting. We hope everyone can join us!
Claudia asks that all officers and committee chairs discuss your current job responsibilities with the person who will be replacing you in January for a smooth transition to new leadership. Also submit the details of your committee ASAP for our process notebook.
2019 meeting dates have been submitted to Northmont U.P. Church.
Check your contact information in 2018 Handbook, and email any changes to Linda Brown and Ellen Dvorsky.
