Colleen Fingal, president opened the meeting up by welcoming all members and thanking Andrea and Gene for opening up their home for the picnic, and also for the beautiful weather and delicious food.
New Business:
Volunteers are still needed for the Passavant Garden in August and September. Contact Evan re your availability.
Jenna presented the program for next month: Tour of Jennings Environmental Center, Tuesday, July 30 at 10 am. Diane Machesney will be leading the tour. See the LAGC Handbook for directions. Takes about an hour to travel there, but well worth the trip. See below re lunch and alternate route.
Jenna is still working on getting the programs together for August and September. Please contact her with any ideas/contact information.
Idea sheets for next year’s programs were passed around. Members were asked to circle ideas and tours which were of interest to them, and to write in any that were not on the sheet. Results will be used as the basis for 2020 programs. Jenna is looking for someone to take over the programming for 2020. She is willing to assist, but can no longer be the primary.
Jenna is helping a friend redo her garden, so if you have any plants from your garden which need to be divided, please get in touch with her.
From Dianne: We should be close to the end by 1:30pm but I'm assuming people will want to eat lunch at the shelter before leaving.
This is a little farther but fewer turns. From Pittsburgh: take I-79 North to Exit 99, New Castle/ Butler. Drive east on Route 422 roughly 5.8 miles to the Prospect Exit. Turn left (north) onto Route 528.
Continue on Route 528 for about 7 miles. Meet in the Jennings Environmental Center Parking Lot on the left (west) side of the road.

Pictures from our picnic.
(From RoseMary: Andrea and Gene's garden is lovely. He grew up in the home. Their garden is a parklike setting with a creek and bridge which Gene repairs/replaces as necessary, some flat areas as well as slope, paver edgings in places, a shaded patio, a wide assortment of perennials, vegetables, and trees. The evening was delightful in all respects.)
