LAGC 2015 Picnic
June 23, 2015
After
an afternoon of heavy rain, the skies cleared and we were treated to a lovely
potluck picnic with good friends and much garden talk. Mary Ann Kurtz welcomed
us and especially thanked Colleen and Evan Fingal for their planning and setup.
Each of us was given a sheet with a variety of possible programs and we marked
our top 10 preferences for next year’s meeting topics.
Then
we crossed over from Grant Grove Shelter to the North Park Demonstration Garden
planted and maintained by Penn State Master Gardener volunteers. Our own Diane Machesney is one of the
volunteers and she answered many questions as we meandered informally in small,
changing groups after our picnic. This garden has a pollinator garden, a garlic
garden (watch for the garlic tasting in the fall), a potato garden, and other
colorful gardens of annuals and perennials.
Next meetings:
July 28—“Fragrant Flowers
and Herbs” by
Peggy Trevanion.
