Founding

Longvue Acres Garden Club was founded in the fall of 1950 by the first residents of the Brown & Vaughn Development Corporation known as Longvue Acres Plan 3.  Neighbors living on the new McCandless Township streets of Hazlett, Bingay and Balmoral “discovered a mutual interest in gardening and landscaping.  Their discussions became so interesting that, through the efforts of Mrs. Jerome Kuhman, a club was formed.”  Monthly meetings were held in the basement of the Kuhman home until April, 1952 when the club began meeting in the new Peebles School auditorium.
